
Strategic Communications Planning
Chief Communications Officer Christine Paik joined the Poway Unified School District in January 2016. She was hired as the Director of Communications and Community Engagement, only the third person in the role since its inception in 1996. The position reports directly to the Superintendent, and was the only director-level position serving on the Superintendent’s Cabinet.
Christine was promoted to Chief Communications Officer in August 2019 due to her increasing roles and responsibilities as a District leader. Under her guidance, PUSD’s communications program has grown into a multifaceted, multimedia program, implementing an award-winning strategic communications plan.

All work and communications efforts conducted by her department are aligned with and in support of the District's vision, mission, and goals. Christine understands the key role communications plays in promoting, enhancing, and protecting the short term and long term success and growth for PUSD.

Publications
Christine's department creates marketing and branding collateral as well as special event publications. She also serves as a ghost writer for all executive communications, including the Superintendent's monthly newspaper column, which earned her the California Gold Award, the top-scoring award given from the California School Public Relations Association.

Christine is a sought-after emcee, moderator, presenter and speaker, both internally within her organization as well as externally for the professional development of others in her field. She has presented at conferences for the Public Relations Society of America, California Association of Public Information Officers, California School Public Relations Association, National School Public Relations Association and more.
